Apple TV+’s First Russian Language Original Thriller Drama ‘Container’ is on Its Way to the West

Apple TV Plus has ordered its first Russian-language original series, ‘Container,’ starring Oksana Akinshina from The Bourne Supremacy.

The series, which has been described as “bold” and “unflinching,” stars Akinshina as Sasha, a surrogate mother with a hazardous secret who reluctantly finds herself ensconced in the lavish house of the wealthy family whose child she is carrying. Sasha’s secrets and theirs threaten to collide as she navigates the privilege and politics of the super-rich.

Maksim Sveshnikov (“257 Reasons to Live”) directed the series, which was based on a screenplay by Alexey Lyapichev (“257 Reasons to Live”). Eduard Iloyan, Vitaly Shlyappo, Alexey Trotsyuk, Denis Zhalinsky, and Mikhail Tkachenko are the producers.

However, this isn’t Apple’s first international-based concert. We should expect more Russian-language programming in the future, as the studio recently won an International Emmy for best drama for its Israeli series “Tehran.” AR Content, Alexander Rodnyansky’s production business, has previously signed a deal with Apple TV+ to “provide a slate of Russian-language and multi-language shows to Apple.”

“Container” will be available on Apple TV Plus in spring 2022.
