The End of the Road for Money Heist?

Netflix dropped the final episodes of Money Heist today, and despite the show’s popularity, it seems there are no plans to continue the series for a sixth season. It’s probably a good thing, it’s always better to quit before you find yourself jumping the shark, but fans will be disappointed at the news nonetheless.

Money Heist is a crime drama set in Madrid and focuses on a team of eight, who were recruited and are led by the ‘Professor’. The show has had us on the edge of our seats for the past five seasons as they pulled heists on the Royal Mint of Spain and the Bank of Spain. The team wear Salvador Dali masks throughout their heists and go by code names which are based on cities like Berlin and Moscow.

The clever Spanish crime drama is narrated by one of the gang members, Tokyo, played by Úrsula Corberó. In the final episodes, we see the gang attempting their escape from The Bank of Spain, but will they get away with the gold? We’ll let you watch it and find out!

There is some good news for fans of the popular series though. Netflix has plans to develop a spin-off series, due to be released in 2023. It is expected that the new show will focus on The Professor’s brother, the character Berlin, who was played by Pedro Alonso.

We assume that the show will be a prequel to Money Heist, as Berlin didn’t make it past season two of the series after being gunned down by police.
