1BR is a common real estate term, an abbreviation of ‘one-bedroom’. I wanted to explain, just so that the title is now less confusing to you, dear reader. The award-winning horror movie 1BR moved on to Netflix on January 1st. It follows a young woman, Sarah, who moves to LA, looking for a new life away from her overly‑protective father, and finding a perfect apartment with some lovely neighbors and a rather cute love interest. But, this is a horror film, so obviously, the apartment is not actually perfect at all, and the neighbors turn out to be far from lovely. The Netflix tagline reads:
‘Seeking her independence, a young woman moves to Los Angeles and settles into a cozy apartment complex with a disturbing sense of community.’
Who is Behind 1BR?
1BR was written and directed by David Marmor in his directorial debut. It was produced by Alok Mishra, Sam Sandweiss, Shane Vorster, Allard Cantor, Jarrod Murray, Nic Izzi, and Peter Phok, of Malevolent Films Production Company.
Who Stars in 1BR?
The movie stars Nicole Brydon Bloom, known for Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and The Affair, as our protagonist Sarah, True Blood’s and Once Upon a Time’s Giles Matthey as cute neighbor Brian, and Heroes’ Alan Blumenfeld as Sarah’s over-protective father. The cast also includes Taylor Nichols, Naomi Grossman, Susan Davis, Clayton Hoff, and Andrea Gabriel.
