Netflix continues to put its best foot forward with high-end TV shows and films. First Ascend, one of Netflix’s upcoming films is set for a fresh production in January 2022.
Who Will Produce the Film?
The movie has the names Ridley and Scott imprinted on it, with Ridley Scott being the producer and Jake Scott, Ridley Scott’s son directing it. Other producers include Michael Pruss, Kevin Walsh, and Sukee Chew from Hopscotch Pictures.
Ridley Scott is an iconic movie producer and director. You remember the legendary Blade Runner (1982)? That was Scott’s work of art, along with the horror film Alien (1979) and the science fiction movie The Martian (2015).
His son dived into music as well as film production. Some of his film credits include American Woman (2018), Plunkett & Macleane (1999) and Welcome to the Rileys (2010).
The film’s script was created by Colin Bannon, who also wrote the film Love Conquers Paul (2009).
First Ascent’s Cast
Daisy Ridley is currently the only confirmed cast member. Her groundbreaking role was Rey in the Star Wars sequel trilogy: The Force Awakens (2015), The Last Jedi (2017) and The Rise of Skywalker (2019).
Her other projects include a voice acting role in the animation Peter Rabbit (2018) and a lead role in the romantic drama Ophelia (2018).
When Will Netflix Release First Ascent?
Netflix has yet to announce the film’s launch date. But given that production will begin in January 2022, we can only speculate that it’ll premier in early 2023.
