‘How I Met Your Father’ is Coming to Hulu in January

On December 17, Hulu released the trailer for their new upcoming series How I Met Your Father. The series is a spin-off of the hit CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother which won 10 Emmys during its nine season run.

“We’re already obsessed. Don’t miss the premiere of #HIMYF on January 18” Hulu says on Twitter.

How I Met Your Father is written by Elizabeth Berger and Isaac Aptaker— who are notable for writing the screenplay for Love, Simon.The storyline takes place in the near future, Sophie (Hilary Duff) is telling her son the story of how she met his father: a story that catapults us back to the year 2021 where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options. Hulu aspires to revamp the original from a new point of view.

Hilary Duff alongside Christopher Lowell, Francia Raisa, Suraj Sharma, Tom Ainsley, and Tien Tran will star the new sitcom. Recurring characters of Josh Peck, Kim Cattrall, Ashley Reyes and Daniel Augustin are also in the series. None of the cast members from the original series have been announced to return, yet.

How I Met Your Father premieres the first season, January 18th on Hulu.
