Rowan Atkinson’s Netflix’s TV Show, ‘Man vs. Bee’: What We Know So Far

The highly-esteemed British comedy actor Rowan Atkinson is about to take his career a notch-higher starting with the Netflix series Man vs. Bee.

Who doesn’t recall the classic Mr Bean comedy shows that launched Atkinson to international stardom? Other comedy films and shows that the 66-year-old actor starred in include Blackadder, Thin Blue Line, Rat Race and Johnny English franchise.

Man vs. Bee

The 10-episode Netflix TV show will see the re-paring of Atkinson with his old collaborator and writer William Davies, who worked on the animation films Puss in Boots and How to Train Your Dragon. The dynamic duo also collaborated on the Johnny English trilogy.

The series will be produced by HouseSitter Productions, founded in May 2020. Atkinson and Chris Clarke, the show’s executive producer, are listed as the company’s directors.
In the meantime, David Kerr, who directed Johnny Strikes Again, will spearhead this series. He is also known for his directory role in other shows, including Fresh Meat, That Mitchell, Webb Look and Inside No. 9.

Synopsis

As funny as the name sounds, a man will literally fight a bee while taking care of an executive mansion. Will the man or bee win the war, and what unrecoverable destruction will happen?

Atkinson will play the lead actor in the upcoming Netflix series. Another confirmed cast member is Julian Rhind-Tutt, who starred in The Witcher.

What’s the Status?

The show’s filming took place this summer in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. Some shots were also done in Bovingdon, Hertfordshire. Post-production began on November 24.

Similar to Mr Bean, each episode of this series will have a short runtime of 10 minutes. Though Netflix hasn’t announced its release date, we expect the show to start streaming early next year.
