Ginny and Georgia season two has begun filming and it looks like it will be released on Netflix late in 2022, all going well. The American comedy-drama stars Brianne Howey as single mother Georgia Miller, and Antonia Gentry and Diesel La Torraca as her kids, teenager Ginny and 9-year-old Austin. Ginny and Georgia first hit our screens when it was released on Netflix on February 24th this year and was promptly renewed for a second season in April.
The plot centers around the lives of Georgia and her family, who have relocated to Wellsbury after Georgia becomes widowed. They befriend their neighbors, and the kids start school, and as with every family, there is a lot of drama! Flashbacks throughout the show give us some insight into Georgia’s past and reveal a few deeply hidden dark secrets.
There is a lot of focus on the bond between mother and daughter, the dynamic between the two drawing comparisons with the mother-daughter comedy-drama series, Gilmore Girls. Although Ginny and Georgia is a little darker than Gilmore Girls, there is that feel-good family warmth that you get while watching both that just gives your heart a little squeeze from time to time.
In the second season of the show, we expect Georgia to be attempting to build bridges and mend relationships with her kids, who – SPOILER ALERT – both ran away from home at the end of the first season. So, she’ll have to find them first! She will have a lot of work ahead of her to repair the broken bonds between them, but if we know Georgia, we know she’ll do anything for her kids. We’ll also find out what is in store for Georgia and Paul, and whether any more old secrets from Georgia’s life will be revealed.
