Amid cancellations of shows such as Doom Patrol and Titans, good news has finally come up for HBO Max fans after the streamer announced to resume of the production of Hacks season three.
The production for the third season, which continued in January from a holiday break, had been halted to give Jean Smart, the series protagonist, enough time to heal from a heart procedure.
Is Jean Smart Okay Healthwise?
Smart shared the post-procedure news in an Instagram post stating, “February is America’s month of Heart- a time when the country spotlights heart health, so it feels essential to share with you that I am getting better from a recent successful heart procedure.
As I recover, I am delighted to have great professional care and support from friends and family. Listen to your body and engage your doctor- as Jean did!”

In a statement, Paul W. Downs confirmed Smart’s wellness, saying, “She’s doing great and confessed to me recently that she’s better than ever, which I believe because she is Smart. Jean is at home, obviously, but she’s doing well.”
The co-producer added, “We’re supposed to return in two weeks, but it all depends. We have to resume cautiously, ensuring that everybody is safe.”

What Do Other Concerned Parties Have to Say About the New Production Schedule?
While fans hoped that Hacks season three would arrive before May 31st, Lucia Aniello, a co-creator, cleared the air in a statement, “And that’s totally okay. I think we all feel that the essential thing for us is the entire crew, Jean included. And so, we feel it’s all fine to take a little more than initially thought.”
HBO Max and Universal Television also showed concern for Smart’s recovery in a joint statement, “We are so delighted that our cherished, Jean Smart’s heart procedure went well and she’s charging.”
What is Hacks About?
Hacks generally focuses on a working relationship between an iconic stand-up comedian, Deborah Vance, and a young comedy writer, Ava.
When Ava couldn’t find employment because of her arrogance and reputation, her manager sends her to write for Deborah. The new pair gradually bond, as Deborah helps Ava to work on personal issues while she pushes her to take more, significant risks.
