A new Netflix rom-com starring Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher is in the works, and recently wrapped up filming just this month, so we believe. It is written, directed, and produced by Aline Brosh McKenna, the co-creator of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and writer of The Devil Wears Prada, 27 Dresses, and Morning Glory, so it’s looking good already! Reese Witherspoon is an executive producer on the movie also.
The official logline for the movie, Your Place or Mine, reads:
“Your Place Or Mine focuses on two long-distance best friends who change each other’s lives when she decides to pursue a lifelong dream and he volunteers to keep an eye on her teenage son.”
Two friends who live on opposite sides of the country decide to exchange homes for a week, and their lives are both changed as a result. Sounds a bit like that Christmas film with Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz, The Holiday. We are guessing that the two friends who exchange homes are Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher, but we don’t know for sure, they could be romantic love interests. The story that I’m hoping for, because it would be very cute, is Witherspoon and Kutcher playing two people who have had a long-distance friendship for ages and think everything is purely platonic, but when they exchange homes for a week they each discover things about the other that they didn’t know, and end up falling in love.
Grey’s Anatomy star Jesse Williams is also set to have a part in the movie, although we don’t know his character yet. We expect a release date for next year, possibly mid-year but hopefully earlier. We can’t wait to see the Legally Blonde star in action again!
