Netflix’s Sweet Tooth Season 2 to Begin Filming

Gus captured our hearts this year in Sweet Tooth, a post-apocalyptic coming-of-age drama about a young boy with deer features. Based on a DC comic series that concluded in 2013, the show is produced by husband-and-wife team Robert Downey Jr and Susan Downey.

In Season 1 of Sweet Tooth, we learn that the world is has been dealing with a terrible virus for the past decade, and we meet young human-animal hybrid Gus, who lives with his father, who he calls ‘Pubba’, in a cabin deep in the woods, hidden away from the rest of the world. As Gus gets older, his curiosity grows, but Pubba fears for his safety if he goes beyond the fence. After Gus loses Pubba, he decides to set out to Colorado to find his mother. He soon finds himself in danger and is helped by a man he calls Big Man. They team up, and we follow them on their journey as Big Man helps Gus find his way to Colorado. Along the way, Gus meets other hybrid children like him.

Sweet Tooth is narrated by James Brolin, father of Josh Brolin, and his warm, comforting but strong voice is perfect for the role. Cast members that we can see on screen include Christian Convery as Gus, with his friend ‘Big Man’, or Tommy Jepperd, played by Game of Thrones Xaro Xhoan Daxos actor, Nonso Anozie. Pubba, Gus’ father, is played by Will Forte, and Adeel Akhtar plays Dr. Aditya Singh, a doctor who is determined to find a cure for the virus so that he can save his wife, even if he has to resort to drastic measures. Also starring are Dania Ramirez, Neil Sandilands, and Stefania LaVie Owen.

Thankfully Sweet Tooth was renewed for a second season, and shooting of the eight episodes is scheduled to start in January 2022. We hope we won’t be waiting too long for a release date, but expect it to be late next year, or more likely early 2023.
