Shadow and Bone Season 2 is Confirmed

The popular Netflix fantasy drama series, based on the Shadow and Bone novels by Leigh Bardugo, first arrived on our screens on April 23rd, 2021. 

Is the Second Season of Shadow and Bone in Production? 

Not yet, but production is expected to begin on the second season of Shadow and Bone in early 2022. Eric Heisserer, who served as showrunner on season 1, will continue his role for season 2, and executive producer Shawn Levy had this to say on the renewal:

“My 21 Laps colleagues and I are thrilled that audiences around the world can continue to explore the Grishaverse and revel in the epic, unique storytelling of Shadow and Bone. The fun of our jobs as producers is the collaboration with creative partners who inspire us. Leigh Bardugo and Eric Heisserer are two such partners; together they have created a world and pantheon of characters that fans all over the globe have embraced. We can’t wait to take viewers on the wild ride that comes next…”

Who Stars in Shadow and Bone? 

The cast for season 1 included Jessie Mei Li as Alina Starkov, Archie Renaux as Malyen ‘Mal’ Oretsev, Freddy Carter as Kaz Brekker, Amita Suman as Inej, Kit Young as Jesper Fahey, Ben Barnes as General Kirigan, Danielle Galligan as Nina Zenik, and Calahan Skogman as Matthias Helvar. We don’t yet know who will be joining the cast for season 2 but we can tell you that Netflix is casting for some exciting new characters.

When Can We Watch it?

Not for a while yet! Production on season 2 of Shadow and Bone is expected to begin in early 2022, which means we probably won’t get a look at it until early 2023, although we’ll definitely be hoping for an earlier release!
