The House Season 1 is Hitting Netflix on January 14th

Another Netflix original that we can’t wait to see is the stop-motion animated series The House, from the award-winning Nexus Studios, who say they “have teamed up with Netflix to bring together three exceptional voices in stop motion animation – Emma de Swaef & Marc James Roels, Niki Lindroth von Bahr and Paloma Baeza.

They will be directing our dark comedy animated series ‘The House’ which is currently in production with the support of Netflix.”

The first season of The House is hitting Netflix next month, on January 14th.

From our understanding, the story of The House will be told over three chapters. The first chapter will be directed by both Emma de Swaef and Marc James Roels, with Niki Lindroth von Bahr directing the second, and Paloma Baeza directing the third.

The first chapter is set in the 19th century and follows a poverty-stricken man called Raymond. A mysterious benefactor promises to help his family and restore the wealth they once enjoyed. We don’t know where the house comes into it, perhaps it is a gift from the family’s mysterious patron, or perhaps it is the family home already. But as we all know, and Raymond’s family is about to find out, you should be careful what you wish for.

The second chapter, directed by Niki Lindroth von Bahr, is set in the present day. It follows an anxious property developer who is trying to make a fast sale from a renovation. We’re guessing it’s on ‘the house’. But things don’t work out according to plan.

The third and last chapter, directed by Paloma Baeza, is set a few years in the future. Rosa is determined to restore her home (again, just a guess, but we’re thinking it’s ‘the house’) to its former glory. She refuses to leave her home and in the end has to learn what is really important.

Big talents are lending their voices to this unique dark comedy series. Matthew Goode and Helena Bonham Carter, Sleepy Hollow star Miranda Richardson, actor Will Sharpe, and actress and model Mia Goth will all be voicing main characters.
