‘You’ Season 4 is In the Works – Here’s What to Know

The awaited continuation of the serial-killers-turned-couple Joe and Love is back on screen, on October 15, You’s 3rd season dropped its pilot episode on Netflix. But that wasn’t the biggest news, as on October 13 just 2 days before Season 3 dropped, Netflix announced on Twitter that You was already greenlit to forego the next season, as Cosmopolitan had put it You Season 4 was already in the [body] bag, announcing the 4th season before dropping Season 3 now that’s some serial-killer planning right there.

The series is based on Caroline Kepnes’ books “You” and “Hidden Bodies.” Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble created the show. Both are executive producers, and Gamble is also the showrunner. Executive producers include Sarah Schechter, Leslie Morgenstein, David Madden, Gina Girolamo, John Scott, Neil Reynolds, Michael Foley, and Justin Lo. In collaboration with Warner Bros. Television, Berlanti Productions and Alloy Entertainment produce, with Berlanti also serving as showrunner.

‘You’ Details and Other Things You Should Know

‘You’ has been one of Netflix’s most successful continuations, alongside Lucifer and Cobra Kai. The first season aired on Lifetime in September 2018, but You went viral after Netflix acquired global streaming rights in December 2018.

As mentioned, the series became so popular that it would’ve been a waste not renewing the series for a second season. Given how popular You has become among Netflix subscribers, season 3 is almost certain to be another smash hit, paving the way for season 4.

“You” Season 3 will see Penn Badgley, Victoria Pedretti, and Saffron Burrows returning as lead cast members, with Shalita Grant, Dylan Arnold, Travis Van Winkle, and Tati Gabrielle joining the series.

Joe and Love are now married and raising their baby in Season 3. They’ve relocated to Madre Linda, a Northern California enclave populated by privileged tech-entrepreneurs, judgmental bloggers, and Instagram biohackers. Joe is dedicated to his new role as a husband and father, but he is concerned about Love’s impulsiveness.

With the renewal announcement, Netflix made no mention of a release date. Given the show’s prior production timetable, we’d virtually expect season 4 of You to be released on Netflix before the end of 2022.

For the time being, we only know that Netflix has renewed You for a fourth season, but the fact that it hasn’t been proclaimed as the “final” season strongly suggests that we may see more of You in the future.

However, considering the story, it’s not too wrong to believe that the series would not be renewed beyond the 4th or 5th season. As it’s always preferable to leave the audiences wanting more than to be questioned as to why it’s still ongoing.

Have you binge-watched season 3 already knowing that there’s a new season already coming its way?
