‘Every End is a New Beginning.’ And indeed, it is sad because After Life will end soon, with the final season to be launched on Netflix on January 14 2022.
Netflix UK & Ireland posted the announcement on Twitter a few hours ago. The first post states, “Here’s your first look at After Life S3”, with a PhotoGrid of some of the show’s scenes.
The second post is a heartfelt picture of Ricky Gervais (Tony) walking with his adorable German Shepherd, Brandy the dog.

Synopsis
After Life is a comedy series starring Ricky Gervais as Tony who strives to put pieces of his life back together after the death of his wife.
Season 2 dropped on Netflix on 24 April 2020, while season 1 arrived on 8 March 2019. Given that season 2 was released only a year after the first season, it’s been a tremendously almost two-year wait for season 3 to drop.
When Was Season 3 of After Life Renewed?
Gladly, it didn’t take long after the second season ended to get confirmation of season three’s renewal. Netflix announced the series’ renewal on 6 May 2020. After Life gained such huge followership that it made it to #1 of most-watched Netflix TV shows. So, Netflix decided that Ricky Gervais better get cracking on another season.
A year later in April 2021, Gervais confirmed that the season’s filming would kick off on Monday 19 April. Thereafter, shooting took place throughout Spring, spilling over into Summer and ending on 4 June.
Why Only Three Seasons?
Similar to the rest of Gervais’ shows that end after only 2 or 3 seasons, After Life follows suit. Gervais confirmed that there won’t be a fourth season of the show. He just likes to keep it short and sweet, so to say!
