Don’t Look Up: Coming to Netflix on December 24th

The trailer states that this movie is “Based on real events that haven’t happened yet.” Pretty damning foretelling of the future of our world, but ok… From Adam McKay, the director of The Big Short, and Vice, and Stepbrothers, and Anchorman, comes this comedy disaster movie about two astronomers who discover that there is a comet headed straight for Earth. They try to warn people, but nobody seems to care.

The President, played by Meryl Streep, doesn’t seem to care, and her Chief of Staff, played by Jonah Hill, is even worse. The astronomers go on a media tour to warn the world but they are met with indifference everywhere they turn. Don’t Look Up is packed with lots more big-name stars, such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence who play the astronomers, Rob Morgan, Tyler Perry, Ron Perlman, Cate Blanchett, Matthew Perry, and Ariana Grande. The movie has received mixed reviews so far, with some saying that the film misses its mark, but others saying that it is a hilarious and clever satire taking a good long look at the world we live in now, and one of McKay’s best films. Although I will eat my hat if it is better than Stepbrothers, I’m sorry but there’s just no way.

We loved the trailer and are very excited to see the movie when it streams on Netflix on December 24th, as huge fans of McKay’s previous work we’re sure that will be our Christmas Eve watch. Along with Home Alone of course!
