Made in Abyss Season 2 Twitter Announces Title and Episode Count

Earlier today the official Twitter account announced that Made in Abyss Season 2 is titled The Golden City of the Scorching Sun. This season will be 12 episodes long, with each episode hitting the classic half-hour mark. Get your schedules open for 6th July 2022, as that’s when you’ll venture into the Abyss again!

Made in Abyss, which was originally a manga series, is written and illustrated by Akihito Tsukushi. The first season consists of 13 episodes and concluded on September 2017, the ending of the first season amounting to roughly chapter twenty-six of the manga. Animation of the season was provided by Kinema Citrus, whereas production was handled by  Kadokawa Media House, Cygames, Kanetsu Investment, Kadokawa, Global Solutions, IRMA LA DOUCE, amongst others.

A couple of years after Made in Abyss season 1 was released, a film titled Dawn of the Deep Soul was released in January 2020 and it served as a sequel to Season 1. Afterward, fans began wondering whether they will get to witness Made in Abyss Season 2 soon or not? But some recent announcements have confirmed that we’re finally getting Made in Abyss Season 2 on 6th July, 2022!

Of course, such a long wait is calculated to build up hype among fans as they anticipate the next installment of the story. The anime series has been well received by fans and critics since its release, which earned it an approval rating of 8.68 on MyAnimeList. It received praise for its animation, soundtracks, voice acting, and characters. The series also won several awards including the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in 2018 and Newtype Anime Awards in November 2017.

Riko lives in the Belchero Orphanage in the town of Orth which is home to a giant hole called the Abyss. The manga tells the story of Riko, a young girl who journeys into an underground world to find her mother with her robot friend Reg. The series has since been adapted into an anime series that ran from July to September 2017, generating positive reviews from both fans and critics alike.

Tsukushi’s first foray into the world of manga was “Made in Abyss”, but Made in Abyss isn’t Tsukushi’s only notable work though; he also wrote the 2015 manga series titled The Ancient Magus’ Bride (Mahō no Ryōken).

The excitement keeps building up as fans are anxiously awaiting Made in Abyss Season 2 as this season will continue exploring Riko’s journey into the depths of the Abyss as she searches for her mother and discovers more about humanity’s history on Earth. The first season is available on Netflix so don’t be shy to give this thrilling anime a try!
