The Philippine Rom-Com Series, ‘On The Wings of Love’ Hits Netflix in January

ABS-CBN’s On The Wings of Love will soon be on Netflix’s catalogue on January 24 2022. Fans of this Philippine romantic comedy show are not as new to the show as its original version, consisting of 145 episodes that aired from August 10 2015 to February 26 2016.

The previous version of the show gained so much recognition that it scored 7.5/10 on IMDb and 96% audience likeability. In fact, its finale was commemorated with a live viewing at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

The show narrates the story of Leah Olivar, played by Nadine Lustre who races against time to pursue her dreams in the U.S.A before her tourist visa expires. She half-heartedly agrees to marry Clark Medina, played by James Reid, who has been residing in the U.S. for 11 years so that she can legally live and work in the country.

Antoinette Jadaone reimagined the show, snapping it back to 24 episodes, featuring new tunes by Alex Gonzaga, Jayda, KidWolfa and Morisette. If you’ve watched the original series, let us know how this brief version sits with you.

Joining Lustre and Reid in the cast are Cherry Pie Picache as Jacqueline “Jack” Fausto, Isay Alvarez as Veronica “Rona” Martinez-Olivar/Wyatt, Joel Torre as Soliman “Sol” Olivar, and Nanette Inventor as Pacita “Lola Pachang/Ima” Magtoto- Fausto.

With the show’s snips and tucks to reduce the running time, let’s see if they cut the “dancing police” scene that sparked controversies in the original instalment. In the scene, Clark dressed up as a policeman, arrested, handcuffed and blindfolded his wife Leah and performed a striptease. The show later apologised for offending the police with the scene.
